Jacob Riis took on the responsibility of exposing tenement living conditions through the process of publishing his book How The Other Half Lives, which used photojournalism to bring awareness to the living standard of the lower class, eventually ensuring them the right to a better standard of living by bringing about new housing legislation and a culture of exposing injustices in society.
